Plus, they also had a gander at the impressive Ring Brothers 1970 Camaro ‘Diversion’ adorned with beautiful details and stuffed with a 650 bhp LS7 lump.

I've come to save you from the... heat.

See you next year at SEMA 2012..!

SEMA 2011: Highlights from Day 2

November 3, 2011

Two days have now passed under the belt of the 2011 SEMA show – here’s your exclusive AutoInjected rundown…

Vintage Mercedes-Benz 280SE 'restored' with an AMG atomic-bomb under the hood.

Mechatronik is a German company founded 15 years ago by an ex-AMG Mercedes engineer and Car and Driver stopped by their stand to have a glance at their intriguing old-meets-new restorations.

The folks at AutoBlog pored over a cool and scrappy 1952 Chevrolet with 430 bhp of 6.2L/V8 GM firepower and also had a gander at the familiar 3-wheeled ‘SuperTrike’ Invader TC-3 from Tanom Motors, which sounds (and looks!) like a city-car designed for The Terminator himself… They also spotted this unique 2011 Mustang clothed in ’68/’69 body panels.

Another oldie with 'updated' internals - '52 Chevrolet here

The fellas at Edmunds InsideLine managed to trace down their Top-10 SpokesModels of SEMA, and of course… the standard ‘slutty schoolgirl’ makes an appearance. They also managed to film a quick video rundown of the upcoming V8-endowed Hyundai RM500 Genesis Coupe.

Uh sir.... there's a time and a place for... uhm

Finally, the Luxury Vehicle twist to the show was amply captured in fine, photographic style by the SpeedHunters crew along with their own spotlight on the barrage of Rods, Lowriders and Customs and some Manufacturer’s OEM displays.

Audi A8 on Airlift and flashy Rotiforms

Very cool 1986 Subaru XT Turbo..! Photo by SpeedHunters, obviously.

By a whisker... what happens when it actually moves though..?

Classic BMW E30 M3... with an LS3 Corvette engine.

A rather Slammed Caddy... Didn't the Jetsons float about in something quite similar to this..?

More tomorrow folks..!

SEMA 2011: Highlights from Day 1

November 2, 2011

SEMA 2011 has arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada and here’s your exclusive AutoInjected peek from Day 1….

Interesting looking Scion FR-S concept

Honda shows off some Supercharged Civic Concepts embued with more letters and syllables than is really necessary…

Chip Foose working his, er...magic on a rare 300SL Merecedes Gullwing

Mazda offers us some ‘sporty’ renditions with a 5-car entry featuring an MX-5 roof-option similar to that wonky one fitted to that uber-limited Porsche Boxster Spyder. Ford showed up with ten different Focuses and Fiestas to whet your personal aftermarket tastes with.

Sweey sweet Datsun 510 on the Enkei stand

There was also this hulking 1001 bhp Cadillac CTS-V widebody from tuners D3 along with a Matte Black Batman logo’d CTS-V that (apparently?) belongs to Justin Bieber… ?

Belongs to Justin...? ? Even had a Batman logo'd front end... weird.

Shelby rolled out the original 1962 Cobra prototype amidst the SEMA deluge of huge wings and assorted, standard carshow extras and Dodge presented a Challenger SRT8 ACR to showcase a range of add-on goodies for their modern-day musclecar.

A Dodge Viper without any breathing problems, thank you very much.

Elsewhere, Hyundai dropped a 450 bhp Hyundai SC Genesis Coupe onto the scene and Lexus presented us with the brand new 2013 GS 350 F-Sport

Apparently, the 'just-had-my-wheels-stolen' look is 'in' right now. Chevy Tahoe, in case you were wondering

Meanwhile, Chevrolet produced a Camaro replicating the Hot Wheels original from 1968 along with four other saucy, spec’ed up Camaro models to oggle over and Japanese Porsche 911 tuner, RAUH-Welt, debuted two 911’s built in the good ol’ U.S of A.

That's a lot of muscle in your Charger... nice.

Toyota Camry Daytona 500 Pace Car... uhmm... *yawn*...?

A terrifically horrific not-very-Ferrari 458-anymore scaring the crowds, I imagine.

I love Shooting Brake concepts. This Dodge Magnum treatment (minus the wheels) looks ace methinks.

Good heavens. Sort of looks like a Chevy S-10 rammed into a Chrysler 300C and then exploded, everywhere.

Aww... Cute! Scion iQ from Evasive Motorsports

More to come tomorrow folks…!!

Video: 2011 Drift Wars Final – Serres, Greece

October 5, 2011

One here for the Drift aficionados… Depending upon your location, this will either serve as companion for your lunchbreak, tea-break, or pre-dins snack. Whatever the case, this is worth your 5 1/2 minutes of time.

Usually these Drift videos are rife with unfathomable music and/or wannabe G-mob stancing egos en masse – I end up clicking ‘stop’ after 30 seconds. But this soundtrack (minus the first 1:00 or so) is at least somewhat bearable enough and seems to adequately capture  the energy of the filmed event itself. Plus, there’s some rather tasty old-school motors being slung around the course, which makes me happy as a git.

Camera work is excellent as well. Nice job…!

Rioter Fails To Jump Over A Burning Car – Vancouver Riot June 15, 2011

June 16, 2011

Vancouver did well in this hockey season and was just 1 game away from being Stanley Cup champions. Unfortunately they lost game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals on home ice and a riot broke towards the end of the third period. Vancouver’s police Chief Jim Chu blamed “anarchists and criminals” for the riot and said he was pleased with the way officers dealt with it. 99% of the people there were hockey fans and 1% of them were criminals. Furthermore, these hooligans had Molotov cocktails in their backpacks and was intending use them even if Canucks won or lost the game. City of Vancouver is blessed to have supportive people to help clean up after the riot. A Facebook Group was formed asking Vancouver citizens to help clean up the mess and already has more than 16,500 attendees with the number growing fast. Here’s a video showing one of the rioters being an idiot last night.
